Gadsden Teenager Dead After Allegedly Robbing and Raping Woman

A Gadsden teenager is dead after allegedly robbing and raping a 37 year old woman during the early morning hours of Tuesday (April 14th).

According to a report on ABC/3340, at around 3:00am three individuals kicked-in the front door of the woman’s home in the 2100 block of Norris Avenue.

According to Gadsden Police one of the three raped the woman at gunpoint while the other two intruders ransacked the home; after the pair fled, the remaining suspect stayed behind and demanded money. After she told him that a neighbor held her cash for safekeeping, he reportedly forced her to walk down the street to the 59 year old neighbor’s home.

The woman knocked on the door and yelled for the man to hand over money so the suspect would leave; the neighbor grabbed his gun and dialed 9-1-1 for help; at that point, the teen fired two shots into the air and told the man to hang up the phone.

The man inside fired one shot at the individual threatening them – striking him in the chest. He tried to run away, but collapsed a short distance away and died.

Police and medical personnel arrived at the scene afterwards and determined that the man fatally wounded was just 17 years old.

The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment, while the neighbor was taken to the police station, where he was questioned and released.

The investigation into the matter is on-going – and anyone with any information regarding the situation should contact the Gadsden Police Department at (256) 549-4630.
