Gadsden Woman Charged with the Chemical Endangerment of a Child

Stancil 2A 29 year old Gadsden woman was arrested after reportedly admitting to using drugs while pregnant.

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin reports that Dorothy Rebekah Stancil admitted to the use of heroin and marijuana during her pregnancy.

She was initially arrested and transported to the Etowah County Detention Center on a pair of drug court violations. Ultimately Stancil was charged with the chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.

She remains in jail with bond set at $10,000.

Upon release, she will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections, and will be required to successfully complete a treatment program.
