Reports have now been released, regarding a Sunday morning accident that claimed the life of a Gadsden woman.
The crash took place just after midnight on Meighan Boulevard, at the intersection with 3rd Street when 76 year old Minnie Green Brown driving a Mercedes-Benz – was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder.
According to Etowah County Coroner Michael Head, Brown was traveling up 3rd Street and turning onto Meighan Boulevard, preparing to go east over the bridge; however, at the light she was struck by the Pathfinder, causing the Mercedes to crash into the parking lot of the Jet Pep station off 3rd Street. Reports indicate that the brakes on the Pathfinder apparently failed, leading to the collision.
Brown was pronounced dead on the scene.
