A Gaylesville man is behind bars – after allegedly attempting to break into the home of his parents on Wednesday afternoon. Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said that 34 year old Jeremy Shane Blackmon stands accused of using a tire tool during that incident – damaging two doors and two windows in the process.
Blackmon fled the scene but was apprehended by Deputy Jeremy Stepps and Corporal Gene Knowles in a field less than two miles away from the home.
Blackmon was charged with Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Attempting to Elude in addition to Resisting Arrest.
He is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
