Georgia Man Arrested In Centre On Charges Of Receiving Stolen Property

Centre Police Narcotic Officers received an anonymous tip about a Georgia resident who was believed to have been posting and selling stolen property on Craigslist. The suspect then would sale the property to individuals in Northeast Alabama.

Centre Officers along with the Leesburg Police Department set up an operation in Centre in order to catch the individual. The suspect met officers at a predetermined location in order to sell a stolen 4 wheeler. The suspect was quickly taken into custody and the stolen 4 wheeler was recovered without incident.

24 year old Jeffrey Lee Maines  of Powder Springs, Georgia was charged with Receiving Stolen Property 2nd and Pistol without Permit. Maines was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he awaits bond.

Centre Police believe that this suspect has sold several stolen items to individuals in Northeast Alabama. Anyone who has purchased property from Jeffery Lee Maines is encouraged to call the Centre Police Dept at 256 927 3662.
