Marvel – 2016“Holy crap!”  With that, director James Gunn told his Facebook followers that his teaser to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 just earned a second place finish for the most-watched teaser in 24 hours, attracting 81 million views in its first 24 hours.

The spot, released Saturday, was second only to the eyeballs attracted by Disney’s Beauty and the Beasts’ live-action sneak peek.

What’s more, the GOTG Vol. 2 teaser is now the biggest Marvel Studios teaser ever.

“No kidding – I’m, like, floored,” Gunn posted, thanking, “all of you so very much for watching it (more than once), and sharing it, and welcoming Baby Groot and Mantis with open arms.”

The teaser debuted Saturday at Brazil Comic Con. 

Gunn added, “Oh – and the icing on the cake – ‘Fox on the Run’ by Sweet, the song used in the teaser, rose to number one on the iTunes Rock Chart!”

Gunn and his GOTG star Chris Pratt also appeared online Monday to urge fans to upload their pictures to Marvel Studios Hero Acts, a site that trades uploaded pics and shares to social media to charity donations to Save the Children. Uploading your best superhero pose not only generates cold hard cash for the charity, but can earn you a chance to win a trip for two to Los Angeles to see the film at the movie’s premiere.
