Heavy Rains Down Trees And Cause Flooding Across Cherokee County

Saturday’s heavy rains brought some minor flooding to the area causing some streets and roads across the county to be closed. In Cedar Bluff Boundary Avenue at Lawrence Street was closed and impassable and Lawrence Street from Boundary Street to Cedar Key Apartments was closed and impassable due to both locations being flooded.

Also in Cedar Bluff, County Road 535 from County Road 75 to County Road 726 was closed and deemed impassable by Cherokee County EMA due to flooding.

In Centre a portion of Park Street was closed and impassable due to flooding in addition to County Road 24 near the Cherokee/Etowah County line.

There were numerous reports from across the county of trees being down as well, Gaylesville Firefighters and Cherokee County EMA responded to a residence on County Road 114 after a tree fell on a home there trapping the family inside, thankfully no one was injured.
