Gadsden State Community College will have a new interim president beginning next month – as Helen McAlpine officially takes over on July 1st.
McAlpine previously served as the first female president of Drake State Community & Technical College in Huntsville. She was named by President Obama in 2010 to serve as a member of the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges & Universities. McAlpine will be replacing interim president William Blow who was named to the post after the former president of Gadsden State, Raymond Staats resigned in the wake of an overwhelming No Confidence vote by the faculty.
