Hello Kitty Wine Has Arrived

STAN HONDA/AFP/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — The iconic Hello Kitty is licensed all over the world. And now, The Los Angeles Times reports that Sanrio, the company that created Hello Kitty, has licensed the character to Torti Winery of Italy to produce a line of Hello Kitty wine.

Presently, the wine is only available at Antonello Ristorante, an Italian restaurant in Santa Ana, California.

Patrizia Torti, whose family owns the winery, said people from the Japanese company tasted Torti wine and contacted her about making a Hello Kitty wine.

The family has produced two wines — a sparkling rosé made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, and a sparkling white wine, made from Pinot Noir grapes.

Although only available at Antonello Ristorante, the Hello Kitty wines are not a limited edition as the family plans on expanding production and distribution.

Antonello Ristorante has the wine for sale beginning Oct. 6, and even features a menu to accompany Hello Kitty wine that includes a flourless chocolate cake shaped like Hello Kitty.
