High Speed Chase Stretches from Cherokee County into Northwest Georgia / UPDATED

Additional information has now been released regarding the high speed chase starting here in Cherokee County Wednesday morning – eventually coming to an end across the state line in neighboring Chattooga County, Georgia.

Early reports indicated that the incident began as a welfare check, due to a call reporting an individual threatening to harm himself; as Cherokee County law enforcement officials were en route to the location, they spotted the man in a GMC Sonoma pickup truck.

However when they attempted to pull him over, he fled – leading officers on a lengthy chase encompassing routes along Fullerton Road, leading to the Holland-Chattoogaville Road, and then Highway 100, before finally ending on Silver Hill Road, where the suspect wrecked the truck, landing upside down by the roadside.

The man, identified as 39 year old Jeremy Rex Howell was transported by Redmond EMS to a Floyd County hospital for treatment; he will reportedly be facing charges upon release.

The investigation into the matter is on-going.
