Hokes Bluff Man Charged with Assault Following Hunting Accident

Hunt 2A Hokes Bluff man has been charged with Assault 1st Degree in connection with a weekend hunting accident which sent a Gadsden area doctor to the hospital.

44 year old Mark Shaw Hunt stands accused of shooting Dr. Christopher Clark while as they were hunting in a field in the Ball Play community around 5:00pm Saturday. Clark suffered gunshot wounds to both legs. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and the victim was later air-lifted to a Birmingham hospital for treatment.

According to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin – Hunt was aware of Clark’s presence in the field in which he was hunting, prior to the incident.

In addition to the Assault charge Hunt was charged with Hunting after Dark; he is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

Clark, meanwhile, remains in the hospital, recovering from his injuries.
