Funeral arrangements have been set for this Thursday (May 29th) – for Hokes Bluff Mayor Gary Reeves, who passed away Monday at UAB Hospital due to congestive heart failure.

Reeves, who was in his second term as mayor, was a retired Alabama Power Company employee with a background in construction.

Reeves had served on the Hokes Bluff City Council since 2003 and was elected mayor in 2008.

Alabama House Minority Leader Craig Ford, who was a distant cousin of Reeves’ – referred to him as a outstanding person who’ll be missed both personally and in government adding that he treated everyone the way he wanted to be treated.

Services will be held at 3:00pm Thursday from the Glencoe/Hokes Bluff Funeral Home Chapel on U.S. Highway 278 with visitation taking place at the funeral home from 11:00am – 3:00pm.

Burial will follow in the New Bethel United Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery located on County Road 71.
