An inmate at the Etowah County Detention Center died Saturday morning while in custody. 55 year old Gerald Joe Hill of Gadsden, appears to have died of natural causes.
The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Oxford Police Department are conducting an investigation.
Hill was being held at the Etowah County Detention Center for two counts of first degree promoting prison contraband, a probation revocation on four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and writ of arrest.
