One of Cherokee County’s most recognized names in law enforcement, Chas Clifton with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, has announced his resignation and will soon be moving to another department in northeast Alabama. In his letter of resignation Clifton thanked the Cherokee County Commission, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and the people of the county, for the opportunity to serve the citizens of the area for the past twelve years. He goes on to say he has recently been blessed and afforded an offer of employment with another law enforcement agency – adding that the move will be in the best interests of him and his family.
Clifton’s last day locally is expected to be April 7th.
