It’s a done deal between the Cedar Bluff Utilities Board and Cherokee EMS; during a Special Called meeting of the Utilities Board on Thursday, board members accepted a counter offer of $15,000 from Cherokee EMS to purchase the former location of the Utilities Board at the intersection of Old Highway 9 and Spring Street, which will include the land and the office facility with the board donating all the office furnishings within that building – the original offer from the Utilities Board was for $20,000.

The deal means that Cedar Bluff will now be the permanent home of Cherokee EMS Station #2; EMS has been in Cedar Bluff for the past year operating out of a room at the Weiss Mart Motel.

During the regular meeting of the Utility Board this week, Danny Smith, representing EMS, explained that the organization desired to seek a permanent location and that they felt like this would be the best choice.

As soon as all paper work is complete and utilities are turned on, EMS will begin the process of moving in.
