Jacksonville City Schools Employee Killed in Monday Auto Accident

The 39 year old Georgia woman, fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident in Cherokee County, on Monday – was an employee of Jacksonville City Schools.

According to the Anniston Star Dee Anna Long was driving a 1999 Jeep Sport SUV on Highway 278 when the crash occurred, about eight miles east of Piedmont.

Long – a resident of Armuchee – was pronounced dead at the scene; there were no passengers in the vehicle and no additional information has yet been released by Alabama State Troopers.

Long was hired as a teacher at Kitty Stone Elementary in 2006, however, she recently transferred to the central office where her job was to help instruct teachers on evolving technology programs – Jacksonville City Schools Superintendent Jon Paul Campbell, said he believes Long was on her way to work when the accident happened, but the vehicle wasn’t discovered by the state troopers until around 11:00am with the accident report being made at approximately 11:30.

Campbell went on to praise Long’s ability as a teacher – adding: (quote) “she touched many lives while she was here.”
