A home in Jacksonville was destroyed by fire shortly after the homeowners left on vacation.
According to a report by ABC3340 – Jacksonville Fire Chief Wade Buckner said a concerned citizen who lives next to the Stoney Brook Golf Course, spotted smoke and flames from that home on Valley Brook Drive.
Firefighters quickly arrived and spent some three hours battling the blaze; the Jacksonville firefighters were assisted by members of the Weaver and Alexandria departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
