A single-vehicle accident occurring just after 3:30 Monday afternoon in Calhoun County has claimed the life of a Jacksonville man.
According to that Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report 44 year old William Michael Benefield was driving his 2003 Honda Element on White’s Gap Road, approximately two miles outside of Jacksonville, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Benefield, who reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
