Joint Operation Leads To The Arrest Of Two Individuals On Drug/Theft Charges

A joint operation involving DeKalb and Cherokee County authorities has led to the arrest of two individuals on several theft and drug charges.

Acting on several tips concerning drugs and possible stolen items at a residence on County Road 101 in the Mount Vernon community, DeKalb County deputies and Drug Task Force Agents along with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies and Cedar Bluff and Leesburg Police Officers executed a consent search at the residence.

During the search they recovered, a stolen car, motorcycle, 4-wheeler and a lawnmower all from Etowah County thefts in addition to methamphetamine.

As a result 40 year old Rickey Mack Dowdy of Collinsville was arrested and charged with Trafficking in any Illegal Drug, 2 counts of receiving stolen property 2nd, receiving stolen property 3rd Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Dowdy also has warrant from Etowah County.  Also arrested was 33 year old William Allen Hyfield, of Attalla on charges of 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

DeKalb County Sheriff Harris says  “These arrests are the result of our Deputies and Drug Task Force working together with other agencies on this case. I am glad we were able to recover these stolen items for the victims.”
