Reid has brought the team to three playoff berths in his four seasons in Kansas City. The Chiefs have won 43 of their 64 games under Reid.

“My family and I have been very pleased by the success the franchise has sustained over the last four seasons under Coach Reid,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a statement. “He has already established himself as one of the best coaches in the league, and he is well on his way to solidifying a place among the all-time greats.”

Reid is 173-114 in 18 seasons as an NFL head coach. Only Bill Belichick has won more games among active NFL coaches.

As for Dorsey, Hunt released a statement saying that his contract would not be renewed beyond the upcoming 2017 season. “After consideration, we felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now,” Hunt explained.

Dorsey was the sixth GM in Chiefs history, and has spent 27 years in the NFL as a player and a staffer.

“I want to think Clark, the Hunt family and the Chiefs fans for the opportunity to be a part of Chiefs Kingdom over the last four seasons,” Dorsey said. “I believe this team is well positioned for the future and I wish Coach Reid, the players and the entire organization the best.”
