Kathy Mobbs Running for Place #1 on Cherokee County School Board

Kathy 1

We recently spoke with Kathy Mobbs, who is running on the Republican ticket for Cherokee County Board of Education Place #1. Mobbs has served a total of 34 years in various school systems – with 22 years of teaching experience behind her and another 12 years working as support personnel.

Cutting right to the chase, we asked Mrs. Mobbs exactly why she wanted to be a member of the school board:

She went on to stress that there should be fewer students in each classroom giving teachers an opportunity for more one-on-one time, and interaction with each child; she also stressed the importance of offering school children classes which they also receive college credit for, thereby giving them a huge “step up” as they move on to higher education. Mrs. Mobbs also expressed a strong desire to see a better line of communication between parents and their child’s teachers, with the administration making it a point to reach out to parents and make them aware of the options available to help their children, such as dual enrollment classes – all of which goes toward benefitting the child – which, after all, is the ultimate goal. She also made it clear that she’s fully aware that smaller classrooms, innovative programs and other improvements cost money and that’s where cost cutting should be combined with common sense, making sure non-essential expenses are dropped with funds then being routed to the things that provide students with the best education, and opportunities, possible.
