Man Arrested Following High-Speed Motorcycle Chase From Centre into Gadsden / UPDATED

Well, it was a chase that covered a pretty good bit of ground at a pretty good clip, starting in Centre and winding up in Gadsden.  Just a few minutes before 8:00 Monday morning a high-speed chase involving a motorcycle started in Centre and quickly moved into Leesburg with units from each municipality in hot pursuit as the bike then barreled down 411 and crossed into Etowah County.

The motorcycle then traveled down Albert Rains Boulevard into downtown Gadsden before finally crashing near the parking lot of the Gadsden Police Department – where the driver was taken into custody by members of the Centre, Leesburg and Gadsden Police Departments as well as Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.  Both Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, and Leesburg Police Chief Brent Grimes were active participants in the apprehension of the subject.  The entire incident took place in under 15 minutes.

The man was taken for treatment of minor injuries prior to being booked into jail.

Cody Wayne Aycock, age 24 of Gaylesville, was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center shortly after 10:30am and charged with Fleeing/Attempting to Elude and Reckless Endangerment in addition to Failure to Appear on prior charges of the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree.

He remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing.
