As it turns out, a DeKalb County man, recently charged with desecrating the grave of his ex-wife has been in serious trouble before, as he was convicted of killing his own father almost 25 years ago.

Christopher Jack Lowery, 46 was accused of murdering Jimmy Lowery back in December of 1992 and was sentenced to prison the following year.

He was convicted of shooting his father in the face with a .410 shotgun while he slept on the sofa; afterwards, Christopher Lowery reportedly dumped his father’s body in a field located off of County Road 111 in the Whitten area, where he was found several days later.

Christopher Lowery was released from prison in November of 2007, however the following month he was arrested on a charge of Child Abuse.  In November of 2008, he was sentenced in Florida to a prison term for the crime of child abuse; he was transferred from Florida to a prison in Alabama in March of 2012.

In May of 2015, Lowery was released from prison and remained on probation.

He was recently arrested yet again, after reportedly desecrating the grave of his late wife at New Canaan Baptist Church near Crossville; the charges in that case have been upgraded to a felony because the damage done to the headstone required that it be replaced.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said they also received a phone call, from a police department in North Carolina, stating Lowery had been threatening someone there – and, had even sent a picture of himself next to the defaced gravestone.
