Man Charged With Statutory Rape and Child Molestation

A 25 year old Chattooga County man has been charged with statutory rape and child molestation, in connection with what was referred to as a “Home Welcoming Party”.

D.J. Haimerl is accused of having improper relations with a 14 year old.

Investigators are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the recent gathering, in which a 46 year woman had apparently invited Haimerl – a 17 year old male, a 14 year old male and a 14 year old female to the home she had recently moved into.

Law enforcement was called after a friend of the 46 year old woman stopped by early Saturday – May 25th, intending to take her to Pennville Trade Day. The male friend told police he walked in that morning around 7:30 to find the woman sleeping with a 14 year old boy – he then went on to say that it looked as though the 14 year old girl may’ve been in the company of an older man.

The man said he knew the parents of the 14 year old girl, and immediately contacted them about the situation.

The 46 year old woman admitted to officers that she’d invited all those in the home there for – “a little home welcoming party”; she further admitted to providing alcohol to the juveniles.

As officers were interviewing the juveniles the 46 year old allegedly attacked one of the deputies with a kitchen knife; the deputy used his stun gun to subdue the woman however at that point she according to reports, attempted to cut her own wrist.

She was taken by Redmond EMS to the hospital for a mental evaluation; during the course of the interviews, the 14 year old reportedly said she and Haimerl had been dating, and had been having sex.

Investigators are still attempting to piece together just what went on at the home and more arrests may be forthcoming.
