Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide Following Wednesday Morning Crash

An eighteen year-old Chattooga County woman lost her life from injuries that she sustained in a car crash during the early morning hours of Wednesday (June 11th) on Spring Creek Road.

Sheriff Mark Schrader said that the driver of the vehicle has been charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide.

Schrader said the older model Dodge pickup truck was traveling south on Spring Creek Road at around 2:30am, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went up an embankment, struck a tree and flipped over.  The eighteen year old passenger was identified as Taylor Sipes.  Sipes was partially ejected from the truck as a result of the accident and was transported to a Rome hospital where she later passed away.  Another passenger in the truck, Kody Jacome, received injuries but was not transported to the hospital.

Schrader said the driver, identified as Gordon Kinsey – was transported to the Chattooga County Jail where he was later charged with Vehicular Homicide, Driving too Fast for Conditions and DUI.
