Man Shot Outside Etowah County Convenience Store

An argument outside an Attalla convenience store, led to a shooting incident on Wednesday afternoon.

Attalla Police Chief Dennis Walker said the two men, who apparently knew each other, had gotten into some sort of disagreement in front of the store located at the intersection of U.S. 11 and Highway 77, and things escalated to the point where one of the men produced a gun and shot the other in the leg.

The victim is reportedly in good condition – the shooter fled the scene and was captured a short time later near Gadsden.  That incident occurred at around 12:00 noon and as a result Etowah High School was placed on lockdown for a short time.

The name of the shooter has not yet been released.
