Man Steals SUV and Later Crashes into Power Pole While Driving in the Wrong Direction

Bullock 2

According to Gadsden Police reports, it was a pretty bad day all the way around, for 39 year old David Jeffrey Bullock.

Around 8:30 on Tuesday evening Bullock reportedly stole a black Chevy Suburban from the parking lot of Brute Fitness on 3rd Street.

The owner of that vehicle had left the keys in the ignition, planning to be gone for just a few minutes; she said there were Christmas presents, cash and a handgun in the vehicle when it was taken.

The SUV was spotted by a police cruiser along North 11th Street and Gardner Street around midnight. Police officers followed the vehicle as it turned into the westbound lanes of West Meighan Boulevard heading east and reportedly “swerving all over the roadway.”

The report indicated that the driver also came close to colliding with a police cruiser and an 18-wheeler before turning onto North 5th Street, where he reached about 80 mph, while he drove in the wrong direction.

Bullock finally crashed the SUV into a power pole at the intersection of 5th and Tuscaloosa Avenue.

At that point he was taken into custody on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree before being taken to jail.

He was not hurt in the crash.
