Meth, Marijuana And Cash Seized During A Traffic Stop Near Yellow Creek Store; Fort Payne Man In Custody

A Fort Payne man is behind bars after being arrested during a traffic stop on Alabama Highway 273 near Yellow Creek Store in Leesburg early Sunday morning.

According to Investigator Jamie Chatman with the Leesburg Police Department, 43 year old John Bradford McNew was taken into custody after he was found to be in possession of Meth, Marijuana and a substantial amount of cash.

McNew is charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Attempting to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime.

Chatman said that Centre Police K-9 Officer Dustin Huggins and K-9 Switch assisted with the stop.

McNew is currently in the Cherokee County Detention Center without bond.
