Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Rome Wreck

Bike 1A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a PT Cruiser on Shorter Avenue at Redmond Circle Thursday night.

According to Officer Andy Rast of the Rome PD the bike was westbound on Shorter and the PT Cruiser was headed east. The Cruiser attempted to turn left onto Redmond and pulled into the path of the motorcycle causing it to hit the front passenger side of the vehicle.

Lt. Josh Kerce with the Rome Police Department said the motorcyclist, 45-year old Todd Bollen of a Rome address, was taken to Floyd Medical Center and then air-lifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.

The driver of the PT Cruiser, identified as 75-year old Lucinda McClellan of Rome, did not appear to be injured.

The wreck occurred at 9:03 p.m.

No citations have been issued as the cause of the wreck remains under investigation by the Rome Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team.
