Bert Shattuck “Shad” Ellis ,age 58 of Centre, passed away Sunday, January 31st at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, GA.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Eric Ellis and Rev. Eddie Nation officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 P.M. Saturday.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth (Will) Babb of Gainsboro, TN and Sarah Ellis (Pete) Lemons of Centre; his mother, Mrs. Sue Ellis of Centre; brother, Andy (Freida) Ellis of Centre; sisters, Susan (Bob) Hood of Highlands, NC and Lynn (Scott) Curry of Centre; grandchildren, Phoebe, Luke, Lexi and Eli; special friend, Evelyn Cothran; several aunts, uncles, niece, nephews and cousins.

Shad was a native of Cherokee County,was a 1976 graduate of Cherokee County High School and a 1980 graduate of Auburn University. He was the owner of Associates Realty in Centre, was a past president of the Centre Rotary Club and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Centre First Baptist Church.

Honorary Pallbearers include current and past employees of Associates Realty, members of the Centre Rotary Club, Bruce and Tammy Vaughn and Kurt and Nikki Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Weiss Lake Improvement Association, SO-COOL or the Cherokee Humane Society.
