A memorial service and life celebration for Mr. Donald Joe Rainey, 63, formerly of Piedmont, will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:00am at Pisgah Baptist Church in the Gnatville Community with Rev. Mike Drummond officiating.
Interment will follow at Gnatville Cemetery.
Mr. Rainey passed away May 22, 2014 at Suncoast Hospice in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida, ending a heroic battle with cancer and beginning life eternal resting in the arms of Jesus.
He is survived by brothers, L. D. “Ray” Rainey (Helene) of San Clemente, CA, Rev. James Oree Rainey (Gaynelle) of Centre; sisters, Naoma Reynolds (Dr. Bill) of Lee, FL, Veona Law (Rev. Kenneth) of Thomson, GA, and Linda Pittman (Lewis) of Piedmont; sister-in-law, Terri G. Rainey of Piedmont; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Mr. Rainey is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Reece and Rachel Muriel Dyer Rainey; and a sister, Betty R. Simpson all of Piedmont; brothers, Charles Rainey and his beloved wife Lois of Naples, FL and L, Ralph Rainey of Piedmont.
Mr. Rainey was born August 23, 1950 in Piedmont, Alabama, but resided in Florida most of his life. He was of the Christian faith. He loved music and enjoyed gardening.
The family suggests memorial donations to be made to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760 or to a favorite charity.
