Mr. George Thomas “Paw-Paw George” Ray

Mr. George Thomas “Paw-Paw George” Ray age 80 of Gaylesville passed away Tuesday April 19th at his residence.

Funeral services will 3 PM Friday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Berry and Amber Ray officiating, burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery (Rhinehart). The family will receive friends from 12 PM until 3 PM Friday.

Pallbearers include Nick Combs, Austin Almond, Zack Ray, Chris Mobbs, Adam Mobbs, Shane Hudgins, Jonathon McDaniel and Jeremy Faulkner.

Survivors include sons, Tommy (Heather) Ray of Acworth, Ga. and Clevie (Wanda) Smith of Gadsden; daughters, Lynn (Clark) Combs of Gaylesville, Diane (Tim) Mobbs of Gaylesville, Cindy (Glenn) Towery of Stewart, Fl. and Tina (Bryan) Nichols of Gaylesville; brothers, Alvin Ray of Gaylesville and Gene Ray of Portland, Or.; sisters, Beatrice Reynolds of Gaylesville, Ruth Harris of Roswell, Ga. and Maggie Tallent of Gaylesville; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special granddaughter, Wendy Smith; special friend, Leona Barnett.

Mr. Ray was a native of Cherokee County,  the son of the late Porter Thomas and Della Rhinehart Ray and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church #1.
