Mr. John Byron Pope

Mr. John Byron Pope, age 76, of Piedmont, AL and formerly of Cedartown, GA, passed away Friday, September 05, 2014.

Mr. Pope was born on October 21, 1937 in Cedartown, GA a son of the late William Howard Pope and the late Stella Alma Waddell Pope. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister; Mary Virginia White and his daughter; Shelley Jo Pope. Mr. Pope was a Veteran proudly serving with the U.S. Navy for ten years where he served some on the Bon Homme Richard. He achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He retired from the AT&T Company following thirty years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of the Cedartown Branch.

John Pope is survived by his loving wife; Beverly Ann Pope, his son; Scott Pope and wife Tina Elaine Pope, his brother; George William Pope and wife Alvalyn Pope, his sister; Betty Ann Woody, his grandson; Jonathan Scott Pope and his granddaughter; Hannah Shelley Pope. Nieces and nephews; Debbie Couch, Stephanie Schofill, David Woody and James Woody also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. John Byron Pope will be conducted on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Melvin D. Woodruff officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens with military honors being conducted. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Pallbearers are Elbert Angle, Charles Causey, Don Garmon, Wally Murray, Herb Lindsey and Mike Archer.
