Mr. Joseph Wayne Matthews age 71 of Piedmont passed away Wednesday at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Graveside service for Mr. Matthews will be 1: PM Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Greg Locklear officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral Home.

Pallbearers for Mr. Matthews will be his Nephews.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife Frances Voiles Matthews, Sons; Johnny and Paula Matthews of Centre, Todd and Brittany Matthews of Cedar Bluff, Daughter; Kelly Matthews of Centre, Step- Daughter; Lori Ann Ray of Piedmont, Sisters; Glenda Abernathy & Sue Gossett both of Centre,

14 Grandchildren, 14 Great – Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his Son Brett Matthews and Brother Gaylon Matthews.

Mr. Matthews was a native of Cherokee County the Son of the late Lester and Opal Hincy Matthews and was of a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.
