Mr. Thomas Benjamin Cates, Jr., 64 of Centre, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his residence.

Survivors include a son, Thomas (Becky) Cates, III of Collinsville; step-son, Drew (Angela) Pitts of Gadsden; step-daughters, Barbie Pitts of Hokes Bluff and Peggy (Cliff) Tidwell of Collinsville; brothers, Michael Cates and Robert Cates of Georgia; sisters, Shirley Frances Cates and Nary Cates of Georgia; grandchildren, Eric, Austin and Chad Cates, Briana Pannell, Michael Tidwell, Sandra and Russell Yeaden, Jonathan (Christy) James, Samantha and Chris Pitts, Stephanie (Rocky) Ramsey; 7 great grandchildren.

Mr. Cates was a native of Atlanta, GA, the son of the late Thomas Benjamin and Carrie Elizabeth Cates, Sr. and was a retired carpenter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
