Murder Investigation / UPDATED – Suspect in Custody

McKinneyAccording to a News Release from Gadsden Police Captain Bobby Jackson – A Gadsden man has now been charged with Murder in connection with the stabbing death of a Rainbow City man.

According to Capitan Jackson the suspect went to the home of the unidentified victim at approximately 8:00pm Tuesday. The resident, a 27 year old female, said her ex-boyfriend, 30 year old William D’Angelo McKinney of Birmingham used a key to enter her residence without her permission.

According to the victim, when she told McKinney to leave he pushed her down then wrapped his arms around her neck and choked her until she blacked out.

The victim’s mother, who was present at the residence, told McKinney she had called the police and he fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.

The very next day at around 5:30 am, police responded again to the on another assault call. This time 53 year old Amos Jackson of Rainbow City had driven to the address to give the 27 year old resident a ride to work.

He was confronted and attacked by William D’Angelo McKinney who arrived at the residence around the same time. Jackson was stabbed multiple times in his torso.

The resident called police and McKinney fled the scene. Police arrived on scene to find Jackson, badly injured, on the ground beside his vehicle.

He was taken to Gadsden Regional where he died a short time later. Detectives immediately coordinated a search for McKinney and, with assistance from the US Marshals, located him in Birmingham, AL Wednesday night.

McKinney surrendered himself to the US Marshalls and was brought back to Gadsden where he was questioned by detectives.

Around 10:00pm last night he was charged with Murder and Assault 2nd and booked into the Etowah County Jail.
