One of the three individuals accused of murder in the death of Willie Terry Slack is on trial this week in Floyd County Superior Court.

Assistant District Attorney Emily Johnson has stated that Willie Dublin was with DeWayne LeBron Reynolds and Darnell Mitchell, when the 56 year old victim was shot in the back on New Year’s Eve, 2012.

Johnson does acknowledge that it may never be proven who actually pulled the trigger, but, she points out, a person is guilty of the crime if she or she intentionally helps to commit the crime; the defense team says they plan to prove that Dublin did not have the gun during the robbery and that their client was “totally surprised” when Slack was shot.

Reynolds was convicted last October (2014) and sentenced to life in prison plus five years; Mitchell has yet to go to trial.
