Netflix Announces Release Date for "Marvel's Iron Fist"

Myles Aronowitz/NetflixJust as positive reviews roll in for its latest Marvel series, Luke Cage, Netflix has announced that its next comics-based endeavor, Iron Fist, will hit the streaming service March 17, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time.

The news came in the form of a brief video of a incense holder, with yellow smoke curling into the titular hero’s dragon emblem, and revealing the until-now-elusive date.

Like the comic on which it’s based, the show will follow Danny Rand, a New York City billionaire whose travels bring him to the far East, where he learns a mystical power that allows him to focus his energy, gives him superhuman fighting ability, and yes, the ability to punch really, really hard. Game of Thrones vet Finn Jones plays the lead character.

Iron Fist‘s Twitter feed showed Rand in action, dealing a flying punch to a presumed baddie, his fallen comrades littering the ground around him. “Open Heart, Closed Fist,” the caption reads.

Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
