New Justice Center Named in Honor of Fallen Police Officer

The City of Anniston has named its new justice center in honor of a fallen police officer.  

Officer Justin Sollohub, age 27 was shot by a suspect, Joshua Eugene Russell during a foot chase on the morning of August 24th, 2011; he died the following day.

On Tuesday of this week (August 27th) – the dedication ceremony for the Justin Sollohub Justice Center was held with the ribbon-cutting being performed by his mother and step-father – Jennifer and Byron Morris.  That $15 million facility will serve as headquarters for the police department, city jail and municipal courtroom.

More than 200 people attended that dedication ceremony and a police honor guard paid tribute to Sollohub with a 21 gun salute, followed by a ceremonial flag raising,

Joshua Eugene Russell is scheduled to go on trial this September (2013).
