New Scam Features Con-Artists Claiming To Be With Microsoft And The FBI

According to Cherokee County authorities, scammers are once again doing their best to take advantage of unsuspected victims. This time they’re hitting you on your computer – here’s how the latest con game works.

Scammers will send you a pop up informing you that they are with Microsoft and that your computer has a virus and that for $4.99 they will repair and clear your computer.

Once you give them the ok to do so you will then receive a phone call informing you their license had not been renewed and that they are going to have to refund you your money. You will then receive a 2nd call moments later informing you that they accidentally put too much money back into your account and that they need you to money gram the excess back to them usually somewhere around $1,800.

Once you have logged onto the computer and send them the money back at that point they have everything they need to leave you high and dry and there is nothing you can do about it because they now have your social security number and banking numbers.

You will then receive a call from a man identifying himself as an FBI Agent by the name of Tim Burke, “Agent Burke” informs you that he is working the case for the Feds and that if you will send him $2,000 he will get all your money back.

In this case, the scammers had already taken $1,800 out of the victims account and was in the process of transferring the additional $2,00 from his savings to checking when fortunately the bank shut it down.

However, the victim will never see one cent of his money again because once scammers have it, that’s it, it’s gone!

As we have told you time and time again, don’t fall for the crafty gimmicks being used by these con artist, they’re seemingly getting smarter and smarter at what they do and go to great lengths to try to con you into falling for their lies.
