New School Board Members Sworn In

The two newest members of the Cherokee County Board of Education were sworn into office on Monday afternoon in the Cherokee County Courthouse.

Kathy Mobbs and Derrick Wheeler were administered the Oath of Office by Cherokee County District Court Judge Wes Mobley.

Kathy Mobbs garnered more votes than any other candidate on the ballot during last week’s General Election defeating incumbent Lynn Rochester 6,683 to 3,340. Meanwhile Derrick Wheeler soundly defeated the incumbent Mark Gossett by a margin of 6,210 to 4,046.

Mobbs and Wheeler will officially begin their terms when the Cherokee County Board of Education meets on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
