New students at Gadsden State Community College are encouraged to attend a free half-day orientation known as “Freshmen Opportunities for College and Unlimited Success” (FOCUS). These sessions complement the Cardinal Commit session held in April.
These sessions are strongly encouraged for all incoming students who entered Gadsden State this summer or who plan to enter this fall semester.
The FOCUS events are designed to enhance students’ college experience. They will have the opportunity to meet other incoming students; interact with current students, faculty and staff; explore academic options; receive essential information on advisement, registration, financial aid and student activities; learn about student life; and go on a guided tour of a Gadsden State campus. Students will also have an opportunity to meet their advisor to plan their program of study if they have not already registered. Parents are welcome to attend.
FOCUS sessions are planned for the following dates and locations:
July 19 – Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden
July 20 – McClellan Center in Anniston
July 21 – Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre
Students can check-in between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Informational sessions and programming as well as fun events will take place through noon, at which time students will be dismissed to meet with their advisor and register for classes by programs of study if needed. The day will conclude around 2 p.m. after registration is completed.
Pre-registration is required to attend a FOCUS session. Students may pre-register by visiting www.gadsdenstate.edu by July 12. Click on the #GSFOCUS2016 icon at the top of the page. A confirmation page and agenda for the day will be available once online registration is completed.
