No Injuries After A Roof Collapse At Honeywell In Oxford

Calhoun County authorities say no injuries have been reported at Honeywell in Oxford after heavy rains caused two roof collapses this afternoon.

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said crews are currently on the scene at the facility off Cliff Garrett Drive.

Capt. L.G. Owens of Oxford Police said initial reports were that two partial roof collapses had trapped 200 people inside the building, creating a “mass casualty event.” But officials quickly learned on the scene that those reports were inaccurate.

“Thank God that’s not apparently the case,” Wade said.

Currently, all employees are accounted for, according to Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge.
