So, Cherokee County Schools open at their normal time on Wednesday.

We do have a few delays to tell you about.

Gadsden State Community College, all campuses, will resume classes at 9:30 Wednesday morning.

All Etowah County, Attalla City, Calhoun County, Piedmont City, Anniston City, Cleburne County, Donoho, Jacksonville City, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic, and Oxford City schools are also all on a two hour delay for Wednesday.

All Chattooga County, Georgia Schools will open two hours later Wednesday except for Lyerly Elementary school, which will be closed for students due to a busted water pipe. All Lyerly Elementary school employees will report two hours late.

Meanwhile, DeKalb County Schools and Cornerstone Christian Academy will delay 3 hours on Wednesday.

The Buttram Senior Center in Centre will be closed until Monday due to busted pipes.

If you need somewhere warm to go during the bitter cold – a warming shelter has been opened in the Educational Building at Cherokee County Health & Rehab located at 833 Cedar Bluff Road – this is for anyone needing a warm place to stay.

There are cots and blankets available, however if you have any small children or anyone needing special supplies or medicine – you need to bring those items with you and no pets are allowed.

The facility will be available through Wednesday morning.

Due to extreme cold temperature conditions and the possibility of residents requiring warming centers due to local utility restoration, the Elliott Community Center located at 2829 W.Meighan Blvd. in Gadsden will have extended hours and will remain open at least until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night, and if necessary remain open overnight.

Anyone remaining overnight at Elliott Community Center will need to supply their own snacks and protective clothing, blankets and pillows.

The Salvation Army facility in Gadsden will remain open as usual during overnight hours.
