The man sought in a manhunt in Marshall County was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon.
Law enforcement from Guntersville, Marshall, Etowah and Blount Counties and U.S. Marshals had been searching for the man who escaped from Blount County since Wednesday morning.
The Blount County Correction Facility said a jail trusty named Clyde Arnold “Trey” Vaughn III escaped around 9 p.m. Monday from their facility while on a smoke break at the sally port. Vaughn, 26, was in jail for failing to render aid during an accident.
The manhunt began in Guntersville after a motorcycle chase on Warrenton Road. After the motorcycle ran out of gas, he was picked up by someone in a vehicle. When Vaughn noticed a marked car following them, he jumped out of the car into the woods.
Law enforcement used helicopters in the search for the escapee. Dogs were also brought in from Limestone County to help.
