@mferr1971/Twitter(EAST HARTFORD, Conn.) — A small plane has crashed in Connecticut, killing one passenger, according to police and fire officials.
The other passenger on board was also taken to an area hospital, said Jason Bak of Ambulance Service — Manchester. The extent of the passenger’s injuries was unclear.
The Piper PA 34 aircraft, went down at about 3:40 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane was on its final approach to land at Hartford-Brainard Airport when it crashed.
The plane was destroyed, and it took some telephone poles down when it crashed, said Lt. Timothy Juergens, media contact for the communications center for the East Hartford Police and Fire Departments. As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, the fire had not yet been extinguished, he added.
