One Killed, Two Injured in Head-On Collision

A Georgia man was killed in a two-vehicle crash just outside of Oxford over the weekend.

According to information in the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, 28 year old James Column Thompson of Stone Mountain was fatally injured when his 2009 Hyundai Accent collided with a 2008 Nissan Rogue being driven by Piedmont resident Daniel Wayne Studdard, age 23.

Thompson died at the scene and a passenger in his vehicle Lance Hagan, age 39 of Anniston was taken to Anniston Hospital for treatment.

Studdard, meanwhile, was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

The collision took place at approximately 12:15pm Saturday, four miles north of Oxford.

That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
