One person was injured following a single vehicle crash taking place near the intersection of County Road 41 & 91 in Gaylesville on Saturday afternoon.
According to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports the driver of the 2002 Chevrolet Z71 SUV has been identified as 43 year old Stacy Lee Dawson of Gaylesville
Dawson was taken from the scene by Cherokee EMS to a Landing Zone just a short distance away off of County Road 114 where he was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
The vehicle apparently left the roadway as it turned onto County Road 91 and traveled up a small embankment striking a mailbox before coming to rest in the road – it is not known at this time what caused the driver to crash.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Cherokee EMS, Gaylesville Fire Department and Alabama State Troopers all responded to the scene.
