State Troopers Work Accidents on County Road 44 and Highway 411 Tuesday

Alabama State Troopers worked two separate single-vehicle accidents involving injuries in Cherokee County on Tuesday.

The first occurred on Highway 411 about three miles north of Centre at 2:00am, involving a 2000 Kia being driven by 37 year old Jamie Smith of Centre; both he and a passenger Alisha Smith, age 35, were listed on the report as being injured.

The second took place on County Road 44 about a half-mile north of Cedar Bluff at 10:40am – involving a 1999 GMC driven by 35 year old Anthony Hamby of Cedar Bluff.

Family members at the scene said Hamby received minor injuries, after losing control of his truck on the wet roadway and crashing into a ditch.

The accident report stated that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time the wreck occurred.

Cherokee EMS and the Cedar Bluff Fire Department quickly responded to the scene.

Both accidents remain under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
