Oxford High School Placed on Lockdown Following Discovery of Threatening Note

Oxford PD 200The following message was posted Friday morning on the Facebook page of Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge

The police department was notified at 9:55 am by Oxford High School administration of an anonymously hand written note stating “there would be a shooting today.” This note was found on a bathroom floor. As with any threat made the high school was placed on lockdown. We sent officers to the high school to assist our school resource officer in a search of the school along with our K-9 units. The school was cleared. The notes have been taken by our forensics unit for examination. Your children are safe, and as a precautionary measure we will have additional police personnel on scene for the rest of the day. As I have said we take these situations extremely serious. And our number one commitment is our children’s safety.

We’ll have additional information as it becomes available.
